Woods Bay Homeowners Association

Welcome to Woods Bay!

Woods Bay Homesites are located in northwest Montana five miles south of Bigfork, on beautiful Flathead Lake, the largest natural body of fresh water between the Mississippi River and the Pacific Ocean.

Woods Bay lies on the northeastern shores of Flathead Lake and the lake’s microclimate produces long, warm days and cool evenings in the summer, and relatively mild winters compared to other parts of Montana. The natural surroundings include majestic mountains, amazing lake views, dense forests with Douglas fir, Western larch (aka tamarack) and Ponderosa pine trees, and easy access to many recreational opportunities. Glacier National Park is one hour away. All this beauty is conveniently located close to amenities like restaurants, stores, and postal services.

The Woods Bay Homeowners’ Association is managed by a voluntary group of homeowners who work to make the neighborhood a great place to live through collective action and shared effort.

We welcome your participation and feedback.

Get Ready for 2026!

Newsletter about Spring 2026 clean up, August 2026 member meeting, and other news will be mailed with January 2026 statements.

Lake Access

Addressing an issue that has been identified as a priority by homeowners, an inside-the-gate badge reader terminal was installed to permit easier exiting through the automatic driveway gate for homeowners with kayaks, paddleboards, baby strollers, wagons, dogs, or wheelchairs. We’re also purchasing a bicycle rack to keep bikes safely out of harm’s way and a paddleboard storage rack for keeping paddleboards off the ground, protecting them from scratches, dents, and pressure marks. To open the lock on the walk-in gate: Press C for Clear then enter Code. This must be done for both entering and exiting. The new 4-digit code for 2026 will be announced in the newsletter accompanying the January 2026 statements.

Lake Access Garbage

The large blue garbage can from Republic Services will be removed at the end of October 2025 and a smaller garbage can will be centrally located for wintertime use. Trash pickup from Republic Services will resume in May 2026. Please do your part to help keep our shared lake access area clean and beautiful.

Lake Access Parking Restriction

Please be mindful about parking near the fence to make it easier for vehicles with boat trailers to safely pull in and out of the boat launch ramp.

Flathead Lake Monster

The legendary Flathead Lake Monster may or may not be real, but the real monsters are aquatic invasive species (AIS) like zebra and quagga mussels that threaten the health of Montana’s lakes and rivers. All watercraft entering Montana are required to be inspected for aquatic invasive species and you must obtain an inspection before launching in Montana waters. If you carry or tow any watercraft (non-motorized and motorized) or water-based equipment, you must stop at all open watercraft inspection stations you encounter. You can be cited for driving past an inspections station if you are hauling or carrying a watercraft. Nonresident watercraft launching in Montana must purchase a Vessel AIS Prevention Pass (AISPP). Vessels and equipment traveling into the Flathead Basin that have been used on waters outside of the Flathead Basin must be inspected prior to launching.
